By 2020. physical therapy will be provided by physical therapists who are Doctors of Physical Therapy and who might be board-certified specialists. Transitional DPT programs will not always be available. The APTA believes that: "When the demand for the transitional DPT is essentially met, transitional DPT programs will no longer have the necessary economic incentive to remain in operation."
